Medical research teams get $10,000 grants

Two teams of researchers from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and the University of Illinois Springfield have been awarded $10,000 grants from the Caryl Towsley Moy Endowed Fund for Collaborative Research.

The fund, created in 2012 with contributions from the Moy family, is named after a former UIS professor who taught sociology and human sexuality at UIS and also taught SIU medical students.

Moy, the wife of former SIU School of Medicine dean Dr. Richard Moy, died in 2010 at age 78.
