Bill Cosby performing at UIS

Popular comedian and actor Bill Cosby will perform Oct. 5 at Sangamon Auditorium at the University of Illinois Springfield.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. May 9.

The nine-time Grammy Award winner is on his “Far From Finished” tour. A recording of his recent television special went to No. 1 earlier this year on the Billboard comedy albums chart.

Cosby rose to fame in the 1960s on the strength of his comedy albums “Bill Cosby is a Very Funny Fellow … Right!” “I Started Out as a Child,” and “Wonderfulness.” His 1983 album “Himself” contains one of his best-known comedy routines, “The Dentist.”

Cosby is also an Emmy Award winning actor for his role on the 1960s TV series “I, Spy.” But he’s probably best known for playing Dr. Cliff Huxtable on the enormously popular 1980s sitcom, “The Cosby Show.”

Tickets cost $39.50, $49.50, $59.50 and $69.50. Tickets will be available starting May 9 at www.sangamonauditorium.org, or from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at 206-6160, or at the auditorium box office.

The appearance was featured by The State Journal-Register on May 2, 2014.
