Expectations are high for the University of Illinois Springfield men’s golf team, and rightfully so.
The Prairie Stars return their top five players from last season. Coach Frank Marsaglia also has brought in a pair of junior college All-Americans, Andy Wilkinson and Sam Norbom.
“We had six that were competitive last year and five played,” he said. “This year, they’re going to step up. We’re going to the next level. Our goal is to make the (NCAA Division II) super regional. To do that we’ll have to finish in the top 10 in our area and it’s about 27 teams.”
