UIS volleyball team provides exciting end to Capital Classic

The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball program hosted the inaugural Capital Classic on Friday and Saturday, and the Prairie Stars capped the 12-match event in exciting fashion.

UIS and Wayne State played the nightcap Saturday, and it was a close one at The Recreation and Athletic Center.

The Stars pulled off a 17-20, 20-25, 25-23, 25-20, 17-15 win to avoid dropping to 1-3. They head into the second week of the season 2-2 thanks to a huge rally.

A NCAA Division II volleyball tournament in Springfield was a great idea. I hope it returns next year.
