The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball program hosted the inaugural Capital Classic on Friday and Saturday, and the Prairie Stars capped the 12-match event in exciting fashion.
UIS and Wayne State played the nightcap Saturday, and it was a close one at The Recreation and Athletic Center.
The Stars pulled off a 17-20, 20-25, 25-23, 25-20, 17-15 win to avoid dropping to 1-3.
They head into the second week of the season 2-2 thanks to a huge rally.
A NCAA Division II volleyball tournament in Springfield was a great idea. I hope it returns next year.
