Sophomore Emma Burkle hit eight kills and sophomore Alyssa Hasler served four aces as the University of Illinois Springfield opened the season with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-17 win against Ohio Valley at the Capital Classic.
UIS junior Lexi Hall contributed 20 assists at The Recreation and Athletic Center.
Freshman Rachel Cobert led the team with six digs.
Upper Iowa beat UIS 25-13, 25-18, 26-24 in the nightcap.
Hasler and Alli Splitt had eight kills apiece.
Hall collected 20 assists for the Stars (1-1).
